Digital Learning RecommendationsTechnology is a part of daily life for students. No student can avoid technology and no teacher should allow students to.
Whether using simple tools like Google Earth or social media sites to help students see other locations or other points of view or more complex technology like connecting students through Google Hangouts or blogs, technology is a key piece in global education and connecting students to the world. |
Grading Global EducationLike students, we need to stop and self assess from time to time. This is especially true as we look at where we are in terms of global education.
The two links below are fantastic ways for teachers and building to evaluate where they are in terms of global education. The global education checklist is a great tool to use with a number or teachers, administrators, and parents to start a discussion of where your school is at in terms of global education. The Checklist for Teaching Global Competence (page 71) from the Asia Society is another fantastic resource that is incredible easy to use. The Partnership for 21st Century Learning has also put together a Global Competence Guide that has tremendous resources broken down by grade level (Middle School is pages 12-31). The Global Competence Checklist from the Asia Society is a fantastic resource that I'd recommend to teachers. It's short and easy to use for teacher and administrators.
